New Millennium Energy Bars Product Review
By Dave Webb
I like the raspberry flavored bar best. They are all pretty good, but that one is my favorite.
I'm not saying I eat them for pleasure, like cookies or candy bars. You eat these things because you know they will keep you alive and give you the energy you need to function. My kids will eat them without complaining, and that is saying something. It is important to me that they are palatable.
They are dense. When you pick one up it feels substantial. When you eat one you immediately recognize they are packed with calories and nutrition. They are somewhat like a dense sugar cookie. I like that they come in an assortment of flavors - I probably have a half-dozen flavors around at any time, giving me a good variety of choices.
I keep some in my emergency kit (bug out bag), some in my car kit, and I often take them when I'm hiking, camping and backpacking. They have a 5-year shelf life and are hold up even under hot or cold temperatures.
Ounce for ounce, dollar for dollar, I don't know of a better option for storable, packable rations for travel or emergencies.
They come in vacuum-sealed, BPA-free Mylar packaging, which holds up well.
I've tried these flavors: coconut, blueberry, cherry, apricot, lemon, orange, raspberry, vanilla, and tropical fruit.
Each bar contains 8 grams of protein, 53 grams of carbs, and 15 mg of sodium.
Bottom line, I trust them to keep me going in whatever situation I encounter. I believe they could literally save my life during an emergency.
