About All American SUN OVENS ® The Ultimate Solar Appliance!
No energy costs, no pollution, just fresh, moist, luscious sun-cooked food. SUN OVEN ® cooking is easy, fun, natural and nutritious while helping the environment.
Food can be baked, boiled or steamed at temperatures of 360° to 400° F with the power of the sun. Sun-baked foods stay moister and have less shrinkage than conventionally cooked foods and do not burn or scorch. Sun-baked roasts are tastier and more succulent, and sun-baked bread has unparalleled taste and texture.
SUN OVENS ®are ideal on sunny days year around for camping, everyday use in your backyard, at picnics, or in the event of a power failure. They keep your house cool in the summer by keeping the cooking heat outside. They are the perfect solution to cooking while camping in dry forests where open flames are banned. Using a SUN OVEN® on a boat is easy, fun, and safe. SUN OVENS ® can also be used to pasteurize water and dehydrate foods.
SUN OVENS ® are made in the US to last for a lifetime. They work better, get hotter, cook quicker, last longer, and are more user-friendly than homemade solar cookers and the knockoffs.
Due to its long life and ability to cook on partly cloudy days, a SUN OVEN ® costs less per meal than any other type of solar cooker.
As you look at other solar cookers, consider the following. Can the solar cooker you are comparing …
- Allow you a choice to cook quickly or slowly?
- Bake two full-size loaves of bread at the same time?
- Allow you to roast a 21-pound turkey?
- Allow you to use your favorite cookware?
Cook on a partly cloudy day? (There needs to be only enough sun to cast a shadow to use a SUN OVEN ®, while full sunlight is required for the others.)
If you are considering a tube cooker, ask yourself, “Do I really want to do my cooking in a very fragile Chinese-made tube that requires me to cut everything into small pieces and keep track of cooking times so my dinner does not burn?”
(The even temperature of the SUN OVEN ® prevents burning so you do not need to stir your food while it is cooking (or ever have to worry about burning your dinner).
What Can Be Made In A SUN OVEN ®?
Create your favorite recipes. Make anything you can cook in a conventional electric or gas oven, and most things you cook on a stovetop, with the exception of fried foods. Even though it is called an oven, anything you can bake, boil, roast, or steam can be made in a SUN OVEN ®.
There is no movement of air in a SUN OVEN ®, allowing food to stay moist, tender, and flavorful. Temperatures in a SUN OVEN® rise slowly and evenly, allowing complex carbohydrates time to break down into simple sugars, emanating subtle natural flavors.
A SUN OVEN Will Not Burn Your Dinner or Your Budget.

Light weight cookware works best. The heavier the pot or pan the longer it takes to heat it up along with the amount of product in them for cooking. The Sun Oven heats incredibly even. No scorching or burning the bottom of the pan like happens on the stove top or in a regular oven. It does take a little longer to cook in a Sun Oven than a conventional oven. If you do everything just right (tilt the oven for time of year and while cooking rotate the oven multiple times to follow the sun) and the sun is cooperating fully (no clouds drifting by) cooking times can be similar to your oven. However, I usually plan somewhere between 1 and 2 times the regular cooking time.
Cooking with the Sun Oven reduces the amount of fuel (electricity, propane, natural gas, wood, briquets, white gas, ect.) normally used for cooking. This is especially helpful in an emergency. Most people don't have a lot of emergency cooking fuel put away just in case.
